Have just learned of Rays passing, and would like to pass on my condolences to his family and loved ones, the world will be a poorer place without him, but my goodness heaven will be such a happier fun place. I lived across the road from Ray during childhood and early teenage years and remember him as being good fun to be with when we played in the street. He was very good at sport, and you would always want him in your side when we played football over the park which was at the top of our close. I also remember after he passed his eleven plus school exams and went onto Palmers school how hard he studied every day so as to achieve his goals. A very fond memory i have was as a fourteen year old,Ray myself and a friend decided to undertake a cycling holiday which Ray organised,We set off on our old bikes for a weeks tour of Suffolk and Norfolk, stopping at Ipswich,Yarmouth,Sherringham,Norwich and Bury St Edmonds. We slept at Youth Hostels, and was all achieved in 6 days. What at adventure we had. Life moved on,Ray went to Cambridge,I grew up got married and lost touch with Ray. Many many years later i happened to take my cat to the vet and was booked in to see a Mr Butcher,at the time the only thought that i had was that he had a very worrying name for a vet.Well i couldn't believe it when i met him and it was Ray. I would just like to conclude and say how proud i am to have known Ray,and all that he achieved in life. Well done to him,not bad for a Belhus Boy.Rest well my friend..Gary Gardner
